Repurposing everyday household items is a great way to organize and improve the functionality of your home.
Household Materials
Repurposed materials, like toilet paper, furniture and paint, are used in many different ways. These items can help you save money and time while also making your home look stylish.
Some of these repurposed ideas are simple, while others take more work. All of these repurposed ideas will help you get the most out of your existing materials.
1. Repurpose an old carpet to make a furniture slider
If you've ever struggled to lift your bed, dresser, desk or other pieces of furniture, this repurposed idea can make it easier. Slide a piece carpet underneath the legs of furniture and then drag it across the flooring.

2. Repurpose a magazine to make a window protector
Wet the edge and rub the old magazine along the window panes to protect them from water damage. This will prevent stains and make the paper adhere smoothly.
3. Repurpose the gift card into a seed marker
Cut a giftcard in half using pinking shears, and then punch a hole at the corner. This is a great marker for small plants, or those with tiny seed packets.
4. Repurpose a dryer sheet as a bug repellent
Dryer sheets are great for dusting furniture, and they can also deter biting insects when tucked in a pocket or under a ball cap. Also, they can be used as a way to wipe down spills from outdoor surfaces or prevent bugs from taking residence in dirty rooms or crawl spaces.
5. Repurpose a coffee filter as a spray bottle
To get rid of lint when you spritz glass cleaner, use double-sided coffee filters. The double-sided coffee filter also removes stains without leaving any streaks.

6. Repurpose an old sock to make a scrubbrush
If you have a few pairs of socks lying around, reuse them as a scrub brush for your bathroom. It is useful to keep this tool on hand for removing soap scum from sinks, shower doors, mirrors stovetops, drains and sinks.
7. Repurpose the plastic bag into a mitt used for polishing or spreading furniture wax
If you have a small pile of plastic bags laying around, this is a quick and inexpensive way to spread furniture wax or polish. You can do this on top of a bench or table to give it a smooth surface.
