Consumer Reports tests all printers listed on this list to give you an objective opinion about their quality. The report also gives an estimate of the cost of each printer over the long-term. This will help you decide which printer is right for your needs. We will be discussing the Epson Expression Premium XP620 and the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printers.
Epson Expression Premium XP-620
The Epson Expression Premium XP-620 All-In-One Inkjet Printer delivers unmatched photo quality, with borderless prints up to 8"x10" and a 2.7-inch LCD display. The printer can also be connected wirelessly and produces crisp text and graphics. It is very affordable at just $130. Ink costs are also relatively low.
Consumer Reports voted Epson Expression Premium XP620 a Best Buy. It has Wi-Fi direct print, email printing and remote printing. It also features an SD media slot that allows users print directly from SD card.

The EcoTank system used by this printer saves users from purchasing new ink cartridges. It claims to store up to two years of ink. Although it costs more than other printers, it eliminates the need for costly replacements. This is worth looking at if you require a low volume home MFP.
HP OfficeJet Pro 8710
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer is a top-quality all-in-1 color printer that offers a wide range of features. It can print, copy, scan, and connect wirelessly. You also get four ink-ready cartridges. This printer can be used in small offices or for up to five employees.
This HP printer comes with an impressive 850-page capacity for black ink and 420-pages for color ink. It costs only 2.2 cents per page for black ink and 8.9 cents per page for color. Inkjet printing is also available with a 6-month trial.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 was a great printer released in 2007. It has modern features, but still remains affordable and good value for money. HP provides great support in the U.S.A and decent support for its printer. But it isn't worth it to purchase it at its launch price.

Canon MegaTank printers
The Printers--All-in-One Test Program includes the Canon MegaTank PIXMA G3260. This program rates printer models according to print quality. Higher scores indicate higher quality printing and more consistent types and curves. The speed at which five pages are printed is also measured. A printer that prints five pages in less than 14 seconds is considered Excellent. A printer taking more than 29 seconds to print five pages will be rated as Fair. Printers that take more than 39 seconds are rated Poor.
Canon MegaTank Pixma G4210- This all-in-one tank printer from Canon costs $300. That's $300 more than an equivalent model that uses inkjet cartridges. This printer has a running cost of $18 per page for three years, and $30 for five years. This is a significant savings over inkjet printers that can run up to $300. Even more affordable is the Canon MegaTank G3202 Tank Printer. A typical user prints 35 pages per monthly, so a super-tank model can save you time and money.
