Budget airlines can be a great way for you to save money, whether you are traveling for pleasure or business. But, there are often some tradeoffs when you travel with low-cost carriers. Frontier is one such airline.
Frontier Airline: Positives
With its motto "Low Fares Done Right," Frontier Airlines has been a popular airline for travelers on a tight budget. Frontier Airlines flies to over 101 destinations in the United States and 19 worldwide, making it easy to find a low-cost flight.
Frontier offers some of the most affordable fares. While Frontier can offer tickets starting as low as $25, it does have a number of fees that can quickly add up so plan carefully.
By paying in advance for your seat assignments, you can save even further money. Most Frontier tickets don't include complimentary seat assignments, so you'll have to pay for them if you want to avoid a middle-seat or being separated from your party.

You can also save money by purchasing a Frontier bundle package. These bundles can reduce the cost of your add-ons and give you some extra perks like priority boarding.
If you can't avoid the fees, you might be better off booking a full-fare ticket with Frontier and using a credit card that has a rewards program. Your rewards will allow you to receive Frontier flight vouchers in the future.
Frontier's Customer Service
Some Frontier passengers are unhappy with Frontier's new messaging system for customer support. Joe Lorenz, a passenger who traveled from Michigan to Denver in the New Year's Eve, stated that he could not resolve his issue with Frontier's online check-in via the messaging platform. Instead of solving the problem through email, he was forced by the airport to speak with a ticket agent.
The employee was unprofessional and dispassionate in her attempts to resolve the problem. He was rudely dismissed by the employee who said "I work the ticket counter, the gate".
He explained that he had many conversations and multiple employees to be able to check his luggage. He claimed that he was given a $25 refund when he was allowed to check his luggage at the airport. However, he plans to change to another airline the next time he travels.

Frontier's Baggage Insurance
If you're flying with a carry-on, be sure to follow the weight and size guidelines. Passengers who don’t comply with the guidelines can be charged up to $60 per bag.
You should also be aware that some of the more expensive bundle packages don't allow you to carry-on any luggage, so make sure you choose wisely if you're aiming for the maximum savings.
Frontier's fees aren't nearly as high as those of its competitors, despite the fact that they have a lot of them. If you have limited funds, the rewards program is worth looking at and the low fares can be a good option. Frontier's cancellation and baggage rules are important to understand before you travel with them.
